ABC is a nonprofit trade organization dedicated to upholding the values of merit shop construction and the principles of free enterprise. As the only national construction association focused on promoting and protecting these ideals, ABC represents over 23,000 member firms through 68 chapters nationwide. It serves as a vital network for general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and industry professionals, advocating for open competition and fair contracting based on the qualifications of the lowest responsible bidder.

Benefits of Membership

Government Affairs Awareness

ABC works hard on its members’ behalf in Hawaii and on Capitol Hill. ABC keeps its members apprised of new legislation or regulations that can affect their ability to compete. ABC’s National office in Washington, D.C. is the watchdog of the industry and has proven to be extremely effective over the years in protecting contractors against harmful legislation.

Information

The chapter’s newsletter and legislative updates keep members informed of important industry happenings whether it is in Hawaii or on Capitol Hill. Nationally, Construction Executive stays on top of changes in the industry and provides members with valuable management and financial information.

Train Your Workforce

ABC Hawaii provides approved apprenticeship training to all contractors, regardless of union affiliations. Our Apprenticeship Program offers top notch training for carpenters, electricians, painters, plumbers and roofers.

Help With Labor Issues

Management and labor issues have long plagued business owners. How do you protect your company’s interests when hiring? When firing? ABC members are provided with an array of human resources and legal services designed to help them safely navigate these issues. ABC members receive everything from “foolproof” employee applications to how to handle a union organizing campaign. ABC members also receive free initial legal consultation as part of their membership.

Networking Opportunities

Each month, ABC offers an opportunity for members to meet fellow ABC members. From our Golf Tournament and Monthly Dinner Meetings, to our Safety Forum and Apprentice Appreciation Night and the black tie Excellence In Construction Awards Ceremony, the chapter provides our members with a variety of opportunities to make that important contact with general contractors, architects, engineers and subcontractors.

Medical Insurance

ABC Hawaii offers an exclusive Sponsored Health Plan with Kaiser Permanente, with which the members of our association take advantage of ABC numbers with the goal of lowering member company coverage insurance premiums. ABC offers seminars on everything our members need to help their project managers, foremen, supervisors and safety directors perform their jobs faster, smarter and more cost-effectively.

Through our Safety Council, ABC can provide members with training, customized written safety plans, safety audits and more.

ABC offers a variety of programs that promote our members' companies to the most important audience: their clients. ABC’s Excellence In Construction (EIC) program provides an invaluable platform to help our members showcase their accomplishments to the construction buying community.
